Low Country Boil Recipe

Summer Time Grilling!

Low Country Boil Recipe



¼ cup Old Bay Seasoning

4 lbs. small red potatoes

1 lb. yellow onions

2 lbs. kielbasa sausage, sliced into 1 ½ inch pieces

2 lbs. crab legs (optional)

6 ears fresh or frozen corn

4 lbs. large raw shrimp, unpeeled

Piggly Wiggly Cocktail sauce

Lemon wedge

Additional Old Bay Seasoning (optional)



  1. Fill a large propane outdoor cooker pot halfway with water
  2. Add ¼ cup of Old Bay Seasoning and bring to a boil.
  3. Add potatoes, return to a boil and cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Add onions, sausage, and corn, return to a boil and cook for 10 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
  5. Add shrimp and crab legs, cook 3 – 5 minutes, or until shrimp turns pink.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon or tongs onto a serving platter (traditionally served on a newspaper-lined table)
  7. Serve with additional Old Bay Seasoning, cocktail sauce and lemon wedges
  8. Enjoy!

Living in the South means it is almost always a good time for grilling!

Piggly Wiggly® offers Helpful Hints when Grilling:

  1. A dirty grill can shorten its life span and be responsible for some pretty bad tasting food, so before you fire it up, clean it up!
  2. Use the proper heat and cooking method for what’s being grilled. For example, ribs or BBQ require very low heat and should be cooked slowly. Whereas steak does best when both sides are seared with a high heat to seal in the natural flavor and juices.
  3. When using marinades or dry rubs remember that time is the key to good flavor. Try to marinade or season at least on hour before grilling. For a more robust flavor marinade or season the night before and store properly in the refrigerator.
  4. Always stay close to the grill. It just takes a minute to ruin a great meal.
  5. Use proper grilling utensils. Tongs help to reduce drippings and flare-ups. To reduce the possibility of injury the longer the tong the better!
  6. Always keep children away from the grill! The outside grill surface can reach temperatures of up to 500 F and higher.
